Interesting Words

There are many interesting words in the English language. I personally think homophones are pretty interesting. “A homophone is a word that sounds the same as another word but has a different meaning and/or spelling. “Flower” and “flour” are homophones because they are pronounced the same but you certainly can’t bake a cake using daffodils.” (Vocabulary.com) Ever since I first learned about homophones when I was younger they have always been interesting to me. Kids would always be confused when trying to understand what the teacher was trying to say about homophones but I never was. I loved the little worksheets my english teacher would give my class in grade school. I always had a fun time doing those worksheets. Sadly I don’t really use homophones a lot but occasionally they come up whenever I’m writing a long essay.

  1. Maria, I always have fun with homophones too! There are so many words out there. What a great opportunity for expression, especially when we hear a new word that we have never heard, we get to expand our vocabulary too!

  2. I agree with you that homophones are interesting words. I didn't much enjoy them as a kid though.

  3. Reminiscing of the past is fun. Using homophones is difficult that why you practice. Eventually using homophones will be part of your daily life and it might be fun.
